When you open your Noted & Charmed Canva template for the first time, you might notice something that looks a little confusing — the pages aren’t in the order you’d expect. Don’t worry, that’s completely intentional. Here’s everything you need to know.
Think of it like a newspaper — the back page and front page are printed on the same sheet of paper. Once it’s folded, everything reads in perfect order.
Before You Do Anything — Three Simple Steps
- Edit your template in Canva — add names, dates, photos, and any personal touches
- Download as a PDF — use “PDF Print” for the best quality
- Print double-sided and fold — your program will read perfectly once folded
Why Pages Look Out of Order
When you design in Canva, the pages are arranged for printing spreads, not reading order. Each sheet of paper is printed front and back, then folded. That’s why you’ll see pages like “8 next to 1” — once folded, everything falls into the correct order.
The spread layout also gives you flexibility — if you want to move content around or change which information appears on which page, you can rearrange the pages in Canva. Quick Tips Before You Print
- Always do a test print on plain paper before printing your final copies
- Use 28 lb bright white paper for the best color and finish
- Select double-sided (duplex) printing and flip on short edge in your printer settings
- If printing at FedEx, Staples, or a local print shop, simply hand them your downloaded PDF — they’ll handle the rest
- Fold each sheet in half after printing, then nest the sheets together in order
If Your Printer Can't Print Double-Sided
Not all home printers support duplex printing, and that's okay — you can still get the same result:
- Print all the "front" pages from the tables above first (these are typically the odd-numbered pages in your PDF).
- Take that same stack of paper, flip it over, and feed it back into the printer.
- Print the "back" pages so they land on the reverse side of the matching front page. Most printers let you select "print odd pages" then "print even pages" from the print dialog, which makes this easier — do a single test sheet first to confirm the orientation is correct before printing the full set.
If this feels fiddly, most print shops (FedEx, Staples, UPS Store) handle double-sided printing automatically — you can simply hand them the PDF and ask for double-sided, short-edge booklet printing.
